Scottsdale Savate Seminar

In my opinion this seminar brought together the West Coast, IT was hosted at the Axe Capoeira Academy. Great students and martial players gathered for a weekend of DDRS. It was great to see player from Capoeira, Silat, Tai Boxing, JKD nd Savate get along for some quick fun .

The Scottsdale Savate Club under Coach Aujas, showed excellent abilities of our art.  From Painful idea to the ebaketas.

The non-stop geared band of brothers enabled the energy level to continue.

We started with the basics of Boxe Francaise an geared to the final 3-5 second tops agenda of street altercation.

Nonetheless that whole group understood why they where training in the first place. That is and should be the first lesson of any style.

The constant flow of energy and acceptance of learning was what enthralls me on teaching this beautiful art.

The following is an example of how we do things a bit different, look at a basic parry on a fouette. Remembering that we are no longer in the ring.

Here is Mr.. Marquez of Arizona applying a straight forward parry to Mr. Long of California. It is  very simple formula , Parry/Fouette + Chasse Italiene = floor

The Second day was spent over viewing the basic set for Blue Glove and going over several of the gelditu's. We learned quickly what and why certain movements are needed for the progression of DDRS.

While covering a wide spectrum of usages the focus of the blade was on the draw.  While tapping on several gelditu sets such as thrusting Matador. The questions that many had were quickly answered. Both Thrusting Matador and Impaling Matador are prime examples of a quick and fast takedown, used in the wrestling. Its straight forward approach is both quick, easy and above all reliable.

Gorging bull was emphasized with both a gaugake and sugar fashions. On the left is Coach Wall teaching the foot work to a good friend Capoerista Leon.

To finish of the day we worked on gorging bull for those testing for Blue Glove at the Passage de Grade 2005. below is Coach Wall and Mike Long doing a variant of Gorging Bull.

Now here is the new crew of zipoteros that will surely make waves in the southwest corner of this Great Nation of Ours.
