We believe in using Danse De Rue Savate as an
effective vehicle for promoting social change, integration and stimulating
individual growth. DDRS uses its instruction to transcend socio-economic
barriers between communities and encourage individual empowerment. DDRS helps
meet the community's need for safety education via the various seminars held
free for youth and women in the realms of self-defense and awareness. Its
pedagogy is for participants of all ages and abilities to participate in
meaningful activities that engage body, heart, and mind, and serves as a
valuable cultural resource. The organization promotes individual and community
values of respect, cooperation, and freedom.

Maintaining respect for ourselves, each other, savate’s sub-culture, within the
salles we share, and the art, freely respecting all with open arms, thus
creating a safe environment to express DDRS as the unique system that it has
become.
We acknowledge everyone's contribution to the
Guild as valuable. Never underestimate anyone – especially yourself. Equality is
taught within the curriculum, thus developing a zipotero to be fair, impartial,
and it develops a character of a good person who will respect social boundaries.
Our Instructors serve as positive role models,
while teaching and within the community. Each zipotero is a representative of
Danse De Rue Savate thus we are always holding ourselves accountable for our
actions.
Within our communities we help out with the different social problems always
aiding and sharing experiences, we cultivate a sense of belonging, extending a
open hand to all. This builds camaraderie, and new friendships.
Education is our foremost strength, we are
forever seeking to understand the elements of the fighting sciences and honor
our rich traditions. Through education we gain strength in building free
thinkers and leaders in communities. Forever pushing our limits with new
challenges which enable us to grow, remembering that failure is essential for
success.
Danse De Rue Savate’s pedagogy is both
challenging yet supportive in encouraging its students to learn positively. It
is the deeply rooted in the belief in positive role modeling enables to enrich
the lives of all students, regardless of level or background as well as
providing all students with leadership skills to develop proficient zipoteros.
Professeur Popeye developed Danse De Rue Savate after his own philosophy and
attitude for Savate by following the innovative concepts of his teachers. His
revelation for the International Danse De Rue Savate was for an organization
that strives to keep the past, the future in the present. By maintaining
tradition, protocol, and aptitude within practitioners. The Guild strives to
improve and promote Savate as a respected art.
Danse De Rue Savate prides itself on the constant innovative and steady refinement of its techniques, renown for efficiency, aesthetics and historical importance. It has incorporated the French arts of pugilism from Zipota, Boxe Francaise, Canne De Combat, Lutte Parissienne, Panache and Savate, thus embracing the new without losing sight of the history and philosophy of this ancient art.
