Gorging Bull

Gorging Bull is a set that one learns in the Blue Glove stage. As a matter of
fact, a beginner might be introduced to this set the first day in class.
Knowing this, one might make the mistake of thinking it is too simplistic of a
movement and therefore not very effective against a real tough guy. Nothing
can be further from the truth in two manners. First, while yet a simple
movement, if not done right one can do more damage to themselves than the other
person. Second, there are not many things more effective than a good
old-fashion head butt done properly. Just watch a boxing match where both
fighters are landing solid punches and seemed to be unphased, then all the
sudden one gets headbutted (accidental or not). There is often an abrupt pause
in action to allow for recovery if not allowing the ringside doctor to check
the massive cut it caused.

As taught to the beginning zipotero, Gorging Bull starts with the opponent
shoving you the student. The student then parries the shove with breast stroke
like motion while sliding in with the chin tucked and head slightly tilted. The
momentum of the opponent along with the slide in of the zipotero allows the
clash of the front top of the head of the zipotero with upper facial area of the
opponent. With all one motion, the parry of the student comes around to double
baffe the ears of the opponent to disorient the opponent. The double baffe is
used to control the head of the opponent to then bring it in for a second head
butt or coup de tete as it is called. From that moment anything goes.

Couple areas of caution: First, one does not want to head butt with the front
part of the forehead. You will end up doing as much or more damage to yourself.
Second, watch about head butting to the mouth of the opponent. It's possible to
end up with a tooth embedded in the head. That is and can be unpleasant in many
ways. Also watch about extending the neck which can also cause yourself injury.
It is good Prof. Buitron passed this information to us in a seminar through his
own personal experience (embedded tooth in head). By him passing this wisdom to
the rest of us has allowed us to become wise in this area without having to find
out for ourselves the painful and perhaps dangerous way.

The application to the street this set teaches in my opinion is the brutality
of the coupe de tete or head butt. A fight in the street where there are
absolutely no rules can possibly end immediately with one head butt. It also
begins teaching the importance of NOTdelivering just one strike. The less
obvious lessons it teaches is how to get the most out of each "movement" or
"strike". For instance, in gaining control of the head to deliver a second
coupe de tete, a double baffe to the ears is used instead of simply reaching
and attempting to grab the head. I believe these are 3 very good applications
to the street Gorging Bull brings to the table. Not bad for a "simple" and
"beginner" set.
