Santa Monica Savate Seminar

Danse de Rue Savate in California

We just finished the first Danse de Rue Savate clinic in California.  We had Zipoteros come from Chicago, Dallas, Laredo, Scottsdale to the beach town of Santa Monica, CA. On Friday night we had the first annual instructors gathering.

It was a great opportunity for the instructors of the system to train together and get clarification on techniques, forms and history of the system.

Saturday and Sunday we had a number of locals with varied martial arts backgrounds train for the first time in the Danse de Rue system - they were all impressed! The feedback I got was extreme high marks on the entries, inside fighting and the knife techniques. I've already been asked for more.

In addition to all the great training, Santa Monica provided a fantastic place to visit. I know that some of the people from out of town did some sight seeing in the evenings and we had plenty of great restaurants to help us get refueled. Unfortunately, though we were training just two blocks from the beach there wasn't enough time to get out there.

I want to personally that Professor for making the trip out here and all the players that came from all over to support the clinic. We owe a special thanks to Matthew Cohen for hosting our clinic at his school Sacred Energy Arts, in Santa Monica, where he teaches Yoga and Kun Tao Silat.

I also want to welcome him as the newest member of the guild. I've known, and trained with, Matthew for eighteen years - he's a valuable addition to our family. I look forward to doing it again next year.
