Passage de Grade 2009
The 119th Annual Passage De Grade in my book was the passage de grade with the most energy. Danse De Rue Savate was represented by four salles: Left Hook Savate Club, Sacred Heart Children's Home Savate Club, Job Corps Savate Club and Buitron Academy. Everyone did great , a AAA for effort. We have two new Silver Glove I level: Kendall "Mecanico" Martin & Jorge "goofey" Garza as well as a new Coach Manuel "Corsair" Ramirez and a huge list of new zipotero's who I hope continue traveling the road of Savate. I spoke with my Professeur and Brother Richard Sylla about the
old traditions that were no longer held in any of the sporting federations. the
saddens that it gave him and the pleasure in his eyes about the training and the
skills that this years group had.
We covered a huge array of principles within all the aspects of
Danse De Rue Savate as well as the ring for everyone to experience. It was a joy
to see children and women doing Coup de Bas and double Fouettes as well as
understanding the reality of the art.
The Season is at an end and I hope that the following season brings more of the same energy that we had this past year. Thank you all for a great season it was a joy to teach each and every one of you. This year we had two best of exams one for Adults and the other for youth. the recipients were : Youths- Alejandro Laurel and Adults Manuel Ramirez. I’ve worked out at other high profile martial art studios during a couple of summers of the past while was coaching and teaching and away from everyone, and there is no doubt that Danse De Rue Savate is the best and where one learns the most.
And Professeur Sylla, it was a thrill and honor to get to go the last round of assaut with you for my Silver Glove exam. I appreciate you doing that. The hours spent working out at the Job Corp seemed to fly by. I also would like to thank Coach Goofey for being my training partner in getting prepared for the Silver Glove exam. He is extremely easy to work with, and very talented. Everyone take care ‘til next time.
As of the 26th of July 2009, I obtained the rank of Blue Glove and Coach . Throughout this year, I’ve been introduced to a world of pugilism, self determination and above all friendship. The lessons learned within our academy are those which are truly memorable and intriguing. From the malicious defenses required for the street to the clean, respectful fighting within a few rounds of assaut, my fellow Zipoteros and I have commenced our training to prevail on both aspects. In addition, Danse De Rue Savate has become an irreplaceable element of my life and an art that I would like to pursue for as long as my time permits.
Over the past months, I have had the privilege to be a student of Professeur Paul R. Buitron III, and am honored to have achieved the basic fundamentals of a Zipotero by earning my first ranking of Blue Gloves in the Passage De Grade on July 29, 2009. It has been a hard year and new experience since taking this effective martial art. During my time in Buitron Academy, I have obtained self- respect, as well for others, friendship with fellow Zipoteros, and memorable moments. Learning the brutal art of Danse De Rue Savate has introduced me to the simplicity as well as the technicalities of defense and offense within attacks.
Nevertheless, I will remain progressing through the system of Danse De Rue Savate till my end of days. I also give my thanks to Professeur Paul R. Buitron for what he has shown me.
