Passage de Grade 2005

This passed passage de grade was terrific on my book, we had several clubs represented. All with great enthusiasm.  We covered all of the disciplines that make up Danse de Rue Savate(sm). As always the system gained new participants every year.  We had representatives from California, Illinois, Arizona as well as from Texas.

It seemed that the new core group has its mind set straight with the fraternity characteristics of the Guild.

We continued with the new tradition of the Guild for passage de Grades with a cleansing done Curanderos Joey Diaz Deleon and his father  Luis Diaz Deleon.

Every glove was covered as well as the Lerraduras and Lamiaks which are solely found in this system, and acquired in the higher glove sets.

I have always spoken about the knife fighting styles that were around in the early 1900 to the 1960's. I brought Mr. Luis Munoz an old knife fighter from Laredo to talk about his experiences with the different blades and such. From the Saca tripa to the lengua de gallo, which were very popular in those days. Linking the past with the future was what navajero Munoz said," I am Proud of you all since it show that you all have a word."  He talked about the different ways to cut and gave everyone several pearls of wisdom on holding a blade.

Everyone got and received every weapon in the Danse De Rue's arsenal this past weekend and above all understood why each weapon was practiced at what glove rank.  The most familiar weapon of La Canne with its two different styles of Canne de Combat and Canne de arme along with my family's makila.

In my opinion the passage de Grades are getting better every year.
